This is a low-current transistor, so the maximum current that can flow through the collector pin (Ic) is 100mA, so using this transistor cannot connect a load that consumes more than 100mA and a load voltage that exceeds 30V. BC549’s decent gain value hfe is from 420 to 800; this value determines the transistor’s amplification capability.

When the transistor is fully biased, it can allow a maximum of 100 mA to flow through the collector and emitter. This phase is called the saturation region. When the base current is removed, the transistor is completely turned off. This stage is called the off-state.

How does a BC549 transistor work?

The BC549 has a very low continuous current so it cannot be used to switch heavy loads to 100mA. However, since its basic trigger voltage is only 5V, it can be easily controlled through the 5V GPIO pins of microcontrollers and microprocessors. Therefore, it can be used where the load current is less than 100mA.

In addition, this transistor can be used as an amplifier because its gain value is rom 420 to 800 and the switching frequency is 10MHz
